COWD was actively involved in the “Lets Go Green-Adopt a Mountain Project” of the DENR, through reforestation.
In fact, COWD Environmental and Water Shed Division of the Engineering Department initiated a tree planting activity, which was participated by the employees of the district to help and protect our mother nature.
COWD was allocated with 2.17 hectares land area within the Malasag Reforestration Project at Mahuganao Watershed in Malasag, Cugman, this city, under the “Let’s Go Green – Adopt A Mountain Project” of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-10) per Administrative Order No. 98-62. COWD is granted with 25 years stewardship in the land area.
The major components of the project include site establishment, maintenance and environmental protection. The greening, development and protection on the project site were initiated last March 11, 2003. The designed site development focuses on forest enhancement through planting of forest trees, specifically Rattan and Bamboo, and fruit- bearing tress such as Rambutan, Lazones, Pomelo, Santol and Mangosteen.
